THE Paarl Soccer Club has improved its position in the play-offs in the newly established Castle Lager League of Safa Boland by obtaining two positive results over the weekend.
Boland soccer clubs are currently busy with play-offs to put a league system in place for Safa Boland which was established in the beginning of the year.
A total of 36 teams - divided into two groups of 18 each, including 13 teams of Drakenstein - are taking part.
The top seven teams in each group will play in the Castle League, with the next best 16 playing in a premier league.
On Saturday, Paarl travelled to Worcester to square up against Swallows Football Club. Paarl stamped their authority on the game early in the first half with Charion Kerspuy gaining a brace of goals as early as the 15th minute of the match.
Thereafter, Ozane Davids, Anthony Chapman and Deon Francke scored making it 5-2 for the visitors.
Riduwaan Behardien was awarded the man of the match for his tenacious play in the midfield.
On Sunday, the Premier Division as well as the Castle League side, were in action at the Boy Louw sportsfields.
The Premier division side played against Newton Football Club with Paarl winning the match 2-1.
Leroy Prins and Lindsay van der Berg scored for Paarl. Goalkeeper Brendon Arendse was man of the match.
Paarl’s Castle League opponents were Young Africans from Mbekweni.
The match was pretty tight throughout with both defences and midfield pretty evenly balanced.
Leroy Prins came on to the field in the 65th minute and scored the deciding goal, giving Paarl a 1-0 victory.
The man of the match award went to left back Zubier Cornelissen.
This coming weekend Paarl will be up against African Jaguars in Mbekweni on Saturday at 15:30 and clash with Double Foot Shooters of Worcester on Sunday at the Boy Louw field at 15:30.
