THE Paarl Soccer Club had mixed results in their attempt to gain Castle League status during the play-offs over the past weekend.
On Saturday Paarl played against African Jaguars in Mbekweni. The match started off at a fast pace and within the first 20 minutes, Charlon Kerspuy, scored the first goal for the visitors.
The home side scored the equaliser late in the first half with the half ending on 1-1.
In the second half the visitors imprinted their dominance on the game and Leroy Prins scored the match winner in the 62th minute.
Thereafter the visitors created many chances without converting the ample opportunities.
Johan “Mighty” Adams had a storming game in the heart of the defence and was declared man of the match.
The following day Paarl clashed with Double Foot Shooters from Worcester in Paarl.
The visitors proved to be stiff opposition and won the match 2-0. The visitors’ left half was a thorn in the flesh of the Paarl side with his long throws into the penalty box of the home side.
This was a valuable tactic of the visitors as it resulted in two goals for Shooters.
The home team however created ample opportunities in the second half with the substitutes Abe Keet, Keith Moses and Wade Anderson providing a resurgence of energy for the home side.
Unfortunately the strikers could not convert the numerous opportunities that came their way.
This coming weekend Paarl faces Eleven Attackers at the Boy Louw grounds at 13:50 on Saturday.
On Sunday the Paarl team travels to Worcester to play against View of Hope at 15:30 at the Esselen Park Stadium.
The executive committee of the Paarl Soccer Club invites all soccer enthusiasts to come and watch the English FA Cup final between Liverpool and West Ham at their clubhouse at the Boy Louw grounds on Saturday.
The club will also be open on Wednesday evening for the live broadcast of the European Champions League final between Barcelona FC and Arsenal FC. Food and beverages will be available at the clubhouse.
