THE Executive Mayor of the Cape Winelands District Municipality, Councillor Clarence Johnson has announced his Mayoral Committee members.
They are Dirk Oosthuizen, Zinzo Mthini, Chrissie Brink, Edmund Pheko, of the ANC and Conwal du Plessis and Solomon Ross from the Independent Democrats.
The Mayoral Committee members bring a lot of experience and expertise to their various portfolios. Councillor Dirk Oosthuizen has a lot of experience as a manager at Sanlam and has been a councillor since 2000. He will be the portfolio holder for Finance.
The portfolio holder for Special Projects is Zinzo Mthini who had served as a councillor and a Deputy Mayor in the then Paarl Municipality and has recently worked as a regional organiser for the ANC.
Chrissie Brink, who has held various positions in the ANC and the South African Democratic Teachers' Union, is politically responsible for the Community and Developmental services portfolio.
Engineering and Infrastructure and Community Safety will be the political responsibility of Edmund Pheko, who has been with the Council for almost six years.
Responsible for Corporate Services is Conwal du Plessis who had served as president of Boland Athletics.
The Housing Portfolio is under Solomon Ross who was previously a councillor in Drakenstein Municipality.
