Come taste the difference
2006-05-25
A “LEKKER” get-together, where one can taste the difference between a koesiester and a koeksister, will be held on Saturday at the Afrikaans Language Museum in Paarl.
The morning starts at 09:00 and includes coffee, koesiesters and koeksisters, a guided tour of the museum’s multimedia exhibitions, as well as a film show of the movie Dirkie lost in the Desert.
Forty years since its release this movie of Jamie Uys (also known for Gods must be crazy) is still loved and discussed around the world.
The Afrikaans version, Dirkie, will also be shown in a separate hall. The museum tour will be in Afrikaans or English.
The event is a celebration of Afrikaans as an official language, as 27 May 1925 was the date that the law recognising Afrikaans as full-fledged official language, was published in the Government Gazette.
Tickets are R20. Call Natasha (872-3441) to book your tickets. Tickets must be prepaid.
