Excellent rain
2006-06-01
AFTER an excellent rainfall month, more than 200mm has been measured in Paarl during May.
Overjoyed farmers describe this month as "the best May in five years". The rain is subterranial water, the cold puts an end to pests.
This has had a positive effect on the dam levels which have been shockingly low during the past few years.
The Wemmershoek Dam is now 64.2% of capacity, where it was only 36,3% full last year.
The Voëlvlei and Theewaterskloof dams currently stand at 55,2% and 49,3% respectively.
And the good news is that more rain is expected from today till Saturday.
The weather will clear on Sunday, but temperatures will remain cool and very cold at night.
