Fairview goats get gold at Decanter Awards

THE Fairview Wine and Cheese Estate outside Paarl this week continued adding to their trophy cabinet when they received ten medals at the highly prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.
The 2004 Goat Roti from their Goats do Roam range was awarded a gold medal, one of only six to go to South African wines.
All the South African gold medal winners were red wines and four gold medals went to Shiraz-driven blends.
The wines of Charles Back garnered the most medals amongst local producers with one gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals.
The silver medals went to 2004 Fairview The Beacon Shiraz, 2004 Fairview Caldera, 2002 Spice Route Malabar and the 2005 Charles Back Chenin Viognier.
The Decanter World Wine Awards is a global competition considered the most influential and respected wine contest of its kind and celebrates the diversity of wine by focusing on regional styles and the influence of terroir.
Some of the world’s most esteemed wine experts head up the regional panels, which consist of a team of judges chosen specifically for their in-depth knowledge of the industry.
Back’s award-winning wines will be featured in the world-renowned Decanter magazine’s best-selling Christmas issue.
