Draft scoping report on Levendal

Draft scoping report on Levendal

2006-06-01

A PUBLIC meeting will be held on Thursday 8 June where the information presented in the Draft Scoping Report on the proposed Levendal Development in Suider Paarl will be discussed.

Additional concerns and issues can be raised at the meeting which will take place from 17:00 to 18:30 in the Berg River Resort Hall (Berg River Resort off R45).

Levendal Developments, a company comprising Power Developments, The Lord Trust and SAMFU (a 100% owned Black Empowerment Company), are proposing to subdivide, re-zone and redevelop portions of 14 properties (including farms, an existing resort and the Paarl School of Skills) in the Suider-Paarl area.

The proposed development is bounded to the north by Paarl, to the west by the R45 (the road between Paarl and Franschhoek), to the east by the Berg River and by farmlands to the south.

SRK Consulting (SRK) has been appointed by Levendal Developments to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed development, required in terms of the Environment Conservation Act (ECA, Act No 73 of 1989).

The Scoping Study is being undertaken in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations promulgated in terms of the Environment Conservation Act 73 of 1989.

Copies of the full DSR are available for viewing at the Mill Street and Drakenstein Public Libraries; and SRK’s website, www.srk.co.za (click on ‘Public Documents’ link).

The public is invited to attend this meeting and/or review this DSR and send written comment by 22 June to Belinda Gebhardt at SRK Consulting, Postnet Suite #206, Private Bag X18, Rondebosch 7701.
You can also email to bgebhardt@ srk.co.za or fax 685-7105.
