Eight-a-side hockey tournament
2006-06-08
AN eight-a-side hockey tournament is being organised by Core Youth Experience for Youth Day, Friday 16 June.
Core Youth Experience is a department of Rock Community Care and is committed to developing and enriching the lives of young people within the Paarl Valley.
The day is designed to celebrate not only the youth, but also to bring young people together from various backgrounds and communities.
Last year they had over 250 players entering the competition, and the Boland u.13 teams grabbed hold of the opportunity to use it as a training day for their players.
This year young people from schools all over Paarl and Wellington will again be invited to enter teams of eight players to compete on the day. The competition will consist of an initial knockout fase followed by semi-finals and finals.
Teams will be able to enter into a junior league (12-15 yrs) and a senior league (16yrs and up), both of which are further divided into male and female competitions.
The winning teams all receive cash prizes and a floating trophy. All games will be played at the Paarl hockey fields.
There will be a number of food stalls, music and entertainment available for the whole family on the day.
The day not only promises to be a lot of fun, but also to provide good competitive hockey.
