Needed: host families for German pupils

2006-06-15

DO you want to make a difference to someone’s life? This is your opportunity!

Since 1996 the FSA Youth Exchange (Friends of South Africa) organises a pupils’ exchange between South Africa and Germany.

Last year 225 German pupils visited South Africa as part of the annual exchange programme.

This year again about 281 pupils will come to South Africa.

The aim of the visit is firstly the cultural exchange between German and South African youths, and secondly to create a higher level of tolerance under young people towards foreign cultures, traditions and beliefs.

The FSA is looking for South African families with children between 14 and 19 years old who are interested in hosting a German pupil.

The South African family offers the German pupil the chance of living with a South African family and the opportunity to visit a South African school.

Families in the countryside are also welcome to apply to host a German pupil.

The German pupils are between 14 and 19 and speak English.

The many friendships that developed and visits between family members in South Africa and Germany is proof of the success of this programme.

To get more information on how to become a host family, call the FSA in Pretoria at 012-345-6885.

Or write to: FSA Youth Exchange, PO Box 1154, Wingate Park, 0153.
