DISCERNING food and wine connoisseurs are invited to join the Cape’s top wine personalities, winemakers and sommeliers who are hosting a new programme for 2005 at Bosman’s Restaurant at Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl.

The gourmet evenings include an aperitif, a six-course dinner including amuse bouche, coffee, petit fours and matching wines. Aperitifs are served from 19:00 onwards. The dress code is smart.

The three-course Sunday luncheon menus feature some of the award-winning wines of the previous gourmet evening, starting at 12:00 at Bosman’s.

* Sample a selection of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz wines at a benchmark tasting hosted by Michael Fridjhon and Andrew Jefford on Saturday 7 May at 17:00.

* That evening at 19:00 there is a gourmet dinner with the South African Trophy Wine Show selection.

* Sunday 8 May’s gourmet luncheon is a culinary force to be reckoned with when Bosman’s sommeliers and award-winning chefs apply their respective skills to matching food and wine.

* Top South African sommeliers from leading restaurants present their personal favourite wines to match the magnificent menu dreamed up by the talented culinary team at the gourmet dinner on Saturday 6 August.

* Sunday 7 August will see a memorable meal complemented by matching wines and presented by Bosman’s sommeliers.

* On Saturday 20 August there is a gourmet dinner: In rich company with Pierre Wahl, Rijk’s Wine Estate winemaker and on Sunday 21 August there will be a gourmet luncheon with Rijk’s choice.

* On Saturday 3 September there is a sparkling occasion hosted by Ken and Teresa Forrester, wine farm owners and the sole importers of Billecart-Salmon in South Africa.

* Lunch on Saturday 4 September, with the sparkling wine of your choice, real Champagne or South African Méthode Cap Classique.

* At Saturday 17 September’s gourmet dinner you can taste some of the wines purchased by the Grande Roche Hotel from past auctions held by the Cape Winemakers Guild.

* On Sunday 10 September there will be a gourmet luncheon with the CWG selection. Bosman’s sommeliers pick a selection of Cape Winemakers Guild wines to accompany a meal at Bosman’s which was one of the first in South Africa to be accepted for the American Express Platinum Card Fine Dining programme launched in 1999.
