Dewdale MTB Classic this weekend
2006-07-06
AVID mountain-bikers can grease their chains for the sixth running of the Dewdale Mountain Bike Classic that will take place in Franschhoek on 9 July.
This year the route has been laid out as a challenging, but enjoyable ride for riders of all ages and fitness levels.
Participants and their supporters can look forward to ample parking, a well-positioned registration area with all necessary facilities, as well as a well-marked and well-marshalled course at the Dewdale Trout Fishery.
The course consists of two main loops, each about 12km long. Riders will have a choice of three routes/distances: a 50km race (completing the route twice), a 25km (completing the course once) and 10km.
Parents are welcome to bring their youngsters, five years or younger, to ride around on the farm, while the older and fitter children participate in the official event.
The whole family can thus enjoy the event and make a day of it.
Food and drink stalls will also be available, while participants will stand the chance to win wine, restaurant vouchers and bicycle accessories in the post-race lucky draw.
