Farmer attacked in Bovlei
2006-07-20
AN organic farmer from Oaklands Estate in Wellington was attacked on Friday evening when returning to the farm in her bakkie.
Annelie Smith (27) stopped to remove two small trees which lay across the farm road. When she got out of the vehicle, she was attacked at knife point by the assailant.
He forced her to drive to her house on the farm, where her hands and feet were bound with shoe-laces. During a scuffle, Smith sustained a knife wound to her hand.
The man demanded money and when she told him that she had none, he grabbed her cellphone and purse and fled the scene.
Smith managed to free herself and went to find help on the farm. It is suspected that the robber purposely cut down the trees to force Smith to stop.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
