Taste top Shiraz
2006-08-17
SHIRAZ is currently the darling of red wine enthusiasts and, with the increasing number of fine examples of the varietal produced each year, it’s easy to see why.
This year’s Wine magazine Tops at Spar Shiraz Challenge attracted a record 215 wines. Of these, the Saxenburg Private Collection 2003 claimed top honours ahead of the Koelfontein Shiraz 2004.
Now these wines and the runners up will be available to the public at a tasting to be held in Cape Town early next month.
Noted Fairview winemaker Anthony de Jager will lead the tastings at the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel, Foreshore, at 18:30 on 7 September.
Other wines Shiraz enthusiasts will be able to enjoy are the Bon Courage Syrah 2004, Groote Post Shiraz 2003, Cloof The Very Sexy Shiraz ’04, Avondale Syrah ’03, Marianne Shiraz ’04, Fairview Solitude Shiraz ’03 and Boekenhoutskloof Syrah ’03.
Tickets are R100 a head. Book on smart@rsp.co.za or 0860 100 205.
