IN just 20 months more than 50 of the Cape’s wine producers have adopted the principles of sustainable winemaking and set aside valuable hectares for conservation, representing nearly a third of the Western Cape’s winemaking land.
Among them are Perdeberg Winery which has become the second South African co-op to become a members, boasting 1ha of natural vegetation for every 3ha of vineyard.
Other local members are Boekenhoutskloof and Haut Espoir in Franschhoek and Laborie and Seidelberg in Paarl.
