Paarl youth in wind band festival

THE Frank Pietersen Music Centre’s symphonic wind band, conducted by Milton Pietersen and Renče Belcher van den Berg, will take part in Artscape’s first-ever Symphonic Wind Band Festival at the Artscape Theatre tomorrow at 19:30.
“There is a tremendous interest from our young people to play wind instruments and get involved in wind bands”, said Marlene le Roux, Director of Audience Development and Education.
The festival will also feature the symphonic wind band of Stellenbosch University and the Cape Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble.
These wind bands will join forces in a varied and exciting gala programme, playing works catering to all musical tastes, from Bach and Offenbach to music from the movies.
