THE Drakenstein Municipality has announced that it is to fill about 300 vacant posts. That is extremely good news, especially for people who have submitted building plans recently.
I submitted a plan for the construction of a covered braai area behind my house in the middle of March.
I was finally contacted (after enquiring about its progress) in the first week in August - asking for more details.
If it takes nearly five months to respond to my little plan, I dread to think how long bigger projects spend in the “Vaalgebou” being perused by the overworked municipal officials.
Let’s hope we will see better service in future, with the appointment of 300 additional officials.
On the other hand, we will hardly have the 300 new staffers in place, before new negotations start to incorporate Drakenstein into the Metropole, leading to more staffing problems...
