Great excitement at interschools show jumping

THE Evergreen Stables in Paarl hosted the 5th Annual Interschools Showjumping Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
Six schools participated - La Rochelle, Bridge House, Gymnasium, Girls' High, Huguenot and WA Joubert.
The event was well supported with 69 entries in the individual classes, four teams in the Pre-Novice, three Novice, three Intermediate and three Open.
The team parades were absolutely spectacular this year with all competing horses parading in school colours, with flag bearers and mascots lending colour and excitement to the parade.
The jumping classes provided some excellent riding, resulting in a jump-off in each category. The most exciting one being the intermediate class where all three schools went through to the jump-off where Huguenot came out the winners.
Danie Hesse from Subaru Motors Somerset West, Lizette Joubert of Rawson Properties Wellington and Gary Purchase of Primeline Feeds Paarl sponsored the show.
Judges for the show were Danielle Pienaar and Jacobus Steyn. “I am confident that this event will continue to go from strength to strength and we are looking forward to an even bigger show next year,” said show co-ordinator Gloria Kilian.
The results are: Team competition (Pre-Novice) 1st Girls’ High, 2nd Bridge House, 3rd Gymnasium Primary, 4th WA Joubert. (Novice) 1st Girls’ High, 2nd La Rochelle, 3rd
