THE Rock Community Care in Paarl, a community action group that is committed to impacting the local community, will be hosting their second annual Charity Art and Wine Auction on Tuesday 26 September at the Grande Roche Hotel at 18:30.
Rock Community Care consisst of an Action Team which does home visits within the squatter areas, providing food parcels, blankets and clothing.
They also offer ABET (adult literacy) classes and have a Crisis Pregnancy Centre. This centre offers free counselling and pregnancy tests.
Trained counsellors advise women on their various choices (including adoption which can be arranged), support with antenatal classes, clothes for the baby for up to two years and as much emotional support as they require.
There is also a Youth Development team working with teenagers and reaching into the local high schools with life skills programs and sports coaching, impacting the lives of young people.
To continue with the valuable work that they are involved in, requires constant financial support.
“We realise that most people see the needs around them, but not everyone is positioned to do much about it,” says youth worker Allister Golding.
“This is one way in which an individual can make a difference. All the proceeds from the auction will go towards Rock Community Care projects.”
Tickets for the auction are available from the Rock Community Care office at 27 Berg River Boulevard at R50 each or you can call 872-7935 for more information.
