JH Pacas wine launched
2005-04-28
PAARLITE Jacques Kruger is well known as a highly successful winemaker boasting more than 24 years’ experience in the industry. He now has joined the ranks of winemaking owner at Bernheim north of Paarl.
Jacques, previously at Blaauwklippen, took over winemaking during the 2004 vintage at Bernheim and has been hard at work ever since rehabilitating the vineyards and upgrading the winery, while his wife Adna took over the administration, marketing and exports.
While working towards a Premium Range consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, Jacques is making the most of what is available from the Bernheim vineyards and has produced three Chenin Blancs - one dry, one semi-sweet and one oak fermented. Also from the 2004 vintage, came a tantalising Rosé, a Pinotage and a Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
Jacques’ expertise in red wine will show in his new quest, namely to produce new world wines with old world backbone and character. These wines will be bottled and released under the JH Pacas label.
The unusual name is a combination of initials of the three shareholders (Jacques, Hermann Helmbold and Pieter Taljaard) and family.
