Guild auction next week
2006-09-21
OCTOBER is Cape Winemakers Guild Auction time. This year’s Nedbank CWG Auction will be held at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, on Saturday 7 October.
Held on the first Saturday of October every year, the Nedbank CWG Auction is open to the public and provides local and international bidders with an opportunity of purchasing unique wines, specially crafted for the occasion, from South Africa’s leading winemakers.
The wines on offer are only available at the Auction and are distinctly different from those bottled under the members’ usual labels.
All wines are selected at a blind tasting and only wines showing technical excellence and maturation potential are chosen for the Auction. This ensures that each wine offered under the CWG Auction label is of exceptional quality.
The members of the Guild hold a programme of exciting public events in the days leading up to their annual Auction. With the emphasis firmly placed on meeting the winemaker, Guild events are intimate, informal and interactive.
Bidders can buy at the CWG Auction, confident in the knowledge that they will be purchasing wines produced and selected for them by some of the country’s most experienced winemakers and wine judges.
Wine enthusiasts can buy as few as 12 bottles - or as many as they like - and with around 35 different wines on offer each year, the Nedbank CWG Auction has something for every palate and every occasion.
For those wishing to purchase Auction wines, but unable to attend on the day, telephonic and proxy bidding facilities are available to local and international bidders at no additional charge.
For further details and to book to attend the Auction or any of these events, visit the Guild’s website www.capewinemakersguild.com or contact Lizane Erasmus on 852-0408
