Women's trust promotes culture of giving
2006-09-28
The Women’s Hope Education and Training (WHEAT) Trust recently hosted its second Awards Ceremony for 2006 in Rondebosch.
The WHEAT Trust tries to market grassroots women’s work through award ceremonies, and in doing so, also network grantees with organisations that can assist them in the development of their initiatives.
To date, the WHEAT Trust has given over 400 grants to women-led community based organisations across South Africa. Women are the key nurturers in their communities. Therefore by investing in women, you are investing in a future for all.
WHEAT Trust is the only national women’s fund in South Africa, which was started by South African women in 1998.
WHEAT Trust promotes a culture of giving through supporting South African grassroots women’s leadership initiatives to build local communities.
The Trust awards grants across a range of socio-economic fields including: Health and Social Services, Education, the promotion of small enterprises and human rights, amongst others.
The criteria for applying for a grant from WHEAT Trust are: a woman based organisation or a community based organisation led by women, at least two years old, with a constitution and a committee.
