Why not take bus to Cape Town?
2005-04-28
A PRIVATE bus company is to launch a commuter service to Cape Town on Tuesday. The buses will run from Paarl, Stellenbosch, Gordon’s Bay/Strand, Melkbos and Simonstown in the morning at about 05:30, and depart from Cape Town at 17:10. According to the bus company, Ingwe Linking Africa Coaches, the response to the service has been “incredible” with such a huge demand that they were able to bring the cost down to R56 per day (R1100 per month, and R260 per week). A one way single ticket is R30. This compares to average vehicle cost using a private vehicle on the route of R1 337 per month, not including wear and tear and parking (fuel costs R31,85 per day for 65 km). The coaches are all luxury vehicles that will include air conditioning, heating, reclineable seats and reading lights. The main aim is to sell a monthly seat to each client, so that one can be ensured of a daily seat at a more affordable rate. Tickets will be sold on the coach. The bus departs from the Nedbank parking area in Breda Street, Paarl, and also stops at Hartford Street in Paarl South. Passengers can disembark at Arts Cape, Cape Town railway station, Buitengracht, Waterfront and Mouille Point. For enquiries, phone 449-2639 or fax 449-2284.
