Paarl Post shines

THE Paarl Post shone at the annual Sanlam awards for the community press, gaining second place nationally in the category Newspaper of the Year (Cronwright Trophy). The trophy was won by District Mail in Somerset West this year.
Paarl Post editorial staff also made their mark in most of the categories for writing and photography.
The talented Malané Bosman was first runner up to the Journalist of the Year, Graeson Hawe of Southern Mail (Wynberg), a category she won two years ago.
She was listed among the top ten in four writing categories (News, Human Interest, Column and Best Headline), as well as gaining 8th place on the shortlist for best photography portfolio.
Leon Steenkamp’s photographs made the top ten in each of the four photography categories (news, feature, human interest and sport), while Lise Beyers gained 10th place for best photography portfolio.
Susan Botha also excelled by being rated in 7th position on the shortlist for Journalist of the Year.
