A PAARL shot hopes to improve on his performance of last year when he competes in the championships of the Western Province Small Bore Rifle Association this weekend.
Peet Visser recently achieved a bronze medal at the Free State Small Bore (.22) Championships which was held at the Paradys shooting range outside Bloemfontein.
He won his medal on the first day of the competition in the 3P division (Class B) where shots have to take aim in three different positions - lying down, kneeling and standing.
He struggled in the following day’s competition managing only a fifth and sixth position in the lying down discipline.
This weekend the Western Province Championships are being held at the Goede Hoop shooting range in Atlantis.
The competition starts on both the Friday and Saturday at 09:00 and spectators are welcome.
Visser hopes to come away with the title this year, improving on last year’s second place.
“We hope to create more interest in the sport and anyone interested in taking up the sport of .22 and air rifle shooting in the Boland area, can contact me on 083-259-3082,” says Visser.
