Tree of Joy

Tree of Joy

2006-10-12

CHRISTMAS 2006. This will be the first year the Rotary Club of Drakenstein join other Rotary Clubs throughout the world with the very successful ‘Rotary Tree of Joy’ project.

A project to collect and distribute presents for those less fortunate, the Tree will bring joy to 200 children of Paarl.

The Tree will be adorned not only with decorations but also with envelopes, each one containing a `wish', from a child who has told the Rotary Club of Drakenstein what they would like for Christmas.

Various underpriveleged homes will be identified. The child’s age and name will also be on the card. The maximum value of the gifts will be R50.

The cards will be attached to the tree at a height that people can read and reach.

Then it is up to the public to choose a wish that they want to fulfil, go off, buy it, wrap the present (if they want) and return it with the wish to the collection point (next to the tree).

The tree will be put up for four weeks (starting middle November) in the Paarl Mall. Gifts will be collected daily by a Rotarian.
