Boekpraatjies: Een van die mees vermaaklike boeke in ’n lang tyd wat onlangs verskyn het, is “Met ’n glimlag” deur André Brink. Die skrywer sal Saterdag om 11:00 in Protea Boekwinkel (Stellenbosch) gesels oor hierdie humoristiese kortverhale van hom. Saterdag 21 Oktober: Eben Venter gesels oor sy nuwe roman, ‘Horrelpoot’. Woensdag 25 Oktober: By Lux Verbi het daar pas twee uitsonderlike boeke verskyn, Ferdinand Deist se Bybeldagboek, “Met God vandag”, en Christina Landman se “Donkermaan, volmaan.” Albei boeke sal om 19:00 bekend gestel word. Die bekende teoloog en kenner van Ferdinand Deist se werk, Piet Naudé, sal oor die dagboek gesels terwyl Christina Landman oor haar eie werk sal gesels. Tjellis: Een van Suid-Afrika se voorste tjelliste, Peter Martens, sal Saterdag om 20:00 in die Endlersaal, US Konservatorium, tesame met die befaamde Portugese pianis, Luis Magalhaes ’n uitvoering lewer. Exhibition: An exhibition of paintings by Ronel Kellerman and sculptures by Francois Visser and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren opened in the gallery at the Grande Provence estate. The exhibition will run until 17 October.
Stoutgatpassie: Following its highly successful première at the Suidoosterfees in January, Stoutgatpassie will be at the Baxter Theatre Centre until 14 October at 20:15 nightly. This dark comedy stars Oscar Petersen and David Isaacs of Joe Barber-fame, well-known and loved by audiences as Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat. Book at Computicket.
Organist: Organ enthusiasts can look forward to a world class organ recital by the celebrated Czech organist, Jaroslav Tùma, on Wednesday in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch. Russin folk dance: The Venzelia Russian Folk Dance Ensemble is at Artscape om 20 and 21 October at 20:00 (including matinee on 21st at 14:00). Book at Computicket.

Lipizzaners: SA Lipizzaners combine with the Drakensberg Boys Choir to present six performances in Cape Town in October. The programme will include favourite items like the School Quadrille and the Work-in-Hand, where the stallions are coaxed by their trainers into doing extraordinary balletic leaps and kicks. Performances will be held at the outdoor venue of the Wynberg Military Base over two consecutive weekends, Friday 20 and 27 October at 19:00, Saturday 21 and 28 October at 13:00 and 19:00 and Sunday 22 and 29 October at 10:30.
