Wanted: a new home for dogs

Wanted: a new home for dogs

2006-10-26

WHEN Floors met the giant Boerboel her owner brought to his yard, he rebelled. But Floors was no match for the new arrival, and the smaller dog had to make way for the big man.

Now Floors resides at the Wellington SPCA kennels, waiting for a new owner and a new yard to protect.

Floors is a year old, white, and has a touch of feisty Fox Terrier in his blood.

In the kennel next to his, Doris awaits her fate with slightly more patience.

She was only a few weeks old when she was offered for sale at the side of the road in Klapmuts.

A motorist could not turn away from the sad eyes, so she bought the puppy and took her to the Wellington SPCA.

Doris is six months old today and has grown up to become a loving Fox Terrier with more than a spot of Beagle.

Also waiting for his owner to miss him enough to come looking, is a sturdy young Jack Russell male who was found wandering aimlessly amongst the Hexberg farms outside Wellington on Monday night two weeks ago.

Anyone interested can contact the manager of the kennels, Colleen McQueen, at 864-3726. The kennels (near the Wellington industrial park) are open to the public between 09:30 and 16:00 on week days
and 09:00 and 12:00 on Saturdays.
