Ridiculous green fees
2006-11-02
THERE is a saying that goes “it never rains on a golf course”. Well, so many Paarl golfers will never experience this saying. How is it possible for a Paarl golfer to pay R200 (affiliated fees) for 18 holes each time you want to play this beautiful game.
I don’t want to know what you will pay if you're not a member at all. Why is this so and what about the people who really can’t afford this?
Make no mistake, the Paarl golf course has gone through major developments, but why at the expense of us local golfers.
As a local golfer, I feel that the Paarl Golf Club should really reconsider these ridiculous green fees.
Where else can I go and enjoy this game? And why should I go out of town to pay cheaper. Yes, you can become a member and pay less for green fees, but who can afford the joining fees. Just to initially join will possibly set you back about R5 000.
The big question would be, are we really making this an “elite” sport and catering only for those who have, or are we trying to keep a certain class of people away from our facilities.
