Meeting on sewage pipeline

Meeting on sewage pipeline

2006-11-09

A PUBLIC meeting to discuss the proposed construction of a new outfall sewer line in Paarl South will be held tonight from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Paarl Civic Centre (first floor).

The Drakenstein Municipality proposes to upgrade and extend the existing Paarl Wastewater Treatment Works, construct a new gravity outfall sewer pipe running from Paarl south to the sewage works, and construct new treatment works in Paarl South.

Ninham Shand has been appointed to undertake the environmental impact assessment for the route of the pipeline, including the best suitable site where the sewer will cross the Berg River.

The draft report is now available at the Paarl and Wellington libraries.

Written comments will be received until 27 November by Dr Andrew Spinks at Ninham Shand, PO Box 137, Cape Town 8000, or enviro@shands. co.za or fax 424-5588.
