THE Paarl Photographic Club not only tied for a first place, but obtained an overall third position in a recent interclub photographic competition.

The winner in the projected image section was Louis Ferreira with his “First light”, with Rory Phelan in the third place with his “Fisherhaven Boat”.

In the print section Bronwen Smith obtained the hightest point for the Paarl club with her stunning image of the girl with the sunny smile.

“What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that the Paarl Photographic Club has only been going for eight months,” said chairman Trevor Clift.

“And we were competing against seven other clubs, some of which are more than 50 years old.”

The nearly 50 members of the club focus on digital photography. They meet on the first Thursday of each month.

Says Clift: “Our aim is to promote photography as an art and stimulate the interest of members in all aspects of digital photography.

“Talks, demonstrations, workshops, discussions, competitions, exhibitions and other activities concerned with photography, are arranged.”

The next meeting of the Paarl photographic club is at 19:00 on 7 December at the MBA Building, Concordia Street, Paarl South.
