ALTHOUGH it is not clear who will walk away with the Mayoral Soccer Cup in its first ever competition, it will for certain be a team from Mbekweni.
Four teams, all hailing from Mbekweni, are currently in the running for the top four positions.
The semi-final matches scheduled for last weekend were postponed and only played last night.
In these matches Mbekweni United met Mbekweni Cosmos whilst African Jaguars clashed with Parks United for a place in the final.
Saturday’s final will be played at the Dal Josaphat Stadium. The day kicks off with an 8km road race as well as an 8km road relay race, which starts at 08:00 in front of the stadium.
The finals of the junior matches for the u.9, u.11 and u.15 matches will start at 10:00.
At 13:00 the women’s teams of Lady Hawk United and TK Lions will take each other on in the final of the women’s division.
This will be followed by a match between the veteran teams of Drakenstein and the Western Province SAFA.
In the build-up to the cup final, the remaining two teams will play each other for the third and fourth positions. The final will kick off at 16:00.
The Immanuel VGK Church will host its carnival at the stadium as well offering spectators enough to eat and drink. Parachutists will also entertain the crowd.
