Great weekend for Paarl Cricket's teams

THE Novel Paarl Cricket Club had a great weekend as all three teams scored big wins over their opponents.
The first team played Worcester United on the Parys A-field. The home side decided to bat on a wicket that suited the batsmen and they set the visitors a target of 297 runs.
After the first wicket fell on 27, opening batsman Godfrey Stevens and Cameron Cupido shared a second wicket partnership of 79 runs before Cupido (44 of 47 balls, 4x2, 6x4) headed back to the cloak room.
In the 37th over Stevens (53 of 105 balls, 4x3), who initially played the anchor role, lost his wicket with the score on 150/4.
Ultalyn Ernstzen joined his captain, Lynal Jansen, at the crease.
They shared a sixth wicket partnership of 70 runs in 14 overs. Ernstzen (40 of 49 balls, 4x3, 6x1) lost his wicket in the 51st over with the total on 220/6.
Alfredo Adams also joined the party as he and Jansen shared an unbeaten 76 run partnership for the seventh wicket in nine overs.
At the end of the innings Jansen finished unbeaten on 68. The visiting batsmen could never settle as they were struggling on 98/6 in the 24th over.
Only Chad Cuttings showed some resistance scoring 51 runs from 77 balls which included nine boundaries.
Lyndon Fredericks (2/17 in 5 overs), Adams (2/22 in 7,2 overs) and Jansen (3/15 in 2 overs) tormented the visitors’ batsmen.
Hilroy Paulse (1/29 in 9 overs) also showed that he is near to his best after being injured earlier in the season.
Novel Paarl was victorious by a massive 144 runs after the visitors were all out for 152 runs.
The second team faced Worcester United in Worcester.
The visitors scored a massive 373/9 in 60 overs. Kurt Martin (93 4x11, 6x3), Faghrie Jacobs (84 4x10, 6x2), Semonique Adonis (30 4x4); Peter-John de Villiers (33 4x7) and Hilton Solomon (33 4x2, 6x2) were the batsmen ensuring a big total for the visitors.
D Beukes (2/47) and A Humphreys (2/60) were the only bowlers that troubled the batsmen of the visitors.
The home side were all out for 115 runs as the Paarl bowlers, Clayton August (2/34), Heinrich Daniels (3/41) and Jacobs (2/21) caused trouble amongst the batsmen.
Z v/d Merwe (34 4x4, 6x2) and R Savahl (24 4x4) were the only Worcester batsmen that showed some sort of resistance.
The home side were trounced by a massive 258 runs. The fourth team crushed their opponents Kromco from Grabouw by eight wickets.
The visitors were bowled out for a 103 runs, with D Boshoff (26 4x2) and B de Bruin (27 4x4, 6x1) were the main contributors with the bat for the visitors.
Rozario Fourie (3/7), Garron Arendse (4/6) and Brent Hendricks (2/27) were the home side’s wicket takers.
Dylan Hendricks (58 not out 4x8) and Arendse (13 not out 4x2) steered Paarl to victory in the 22nd over.
On Saturday Paarl I and II both clash with Easterns at the Parys grounds. The third team also play at home against Paarl East Cricket Club. The fourth team travels to face the Clanwilliam Cricket Club.
