MECHANICAL problems led to the soccer team of Mbekweni United losing their SAB League match on Saturday.

Mbekweni United travelled to Worcester to face Worcester Spurs when their taxi broke down. This led to the team being ten minutes late for the scheduled kick-off time.

The Worcester team took advantage of the team’s misfortune claiming the two default points even though they were notified by the away team about the problem and had agreed that they would give the Mbekweni players 15 minutes grace.

This marked the Mbekweni team’s first loss in 11 matches.

On Sunday Mbekweni United hosted Mighty Peace from Khayamandi.

Mbekweni won the match 3-1 thanks to the hero of the day, Sivuyile Tozo, who scored the brace. Another goal was scored by the midfielder, Luyanda Nombeleko.

Mbekweni United still tops the log with 31 points from 12 matches.

Their Mbekweni neighbours, Cosmos, did not play their match on Saturday against Mighty Peace in Khayamandi due to the fact that the Khayamandi field was not lined.

They did however played against the bottom of the log Glen Eagles in Cloetesville on Sunday beating them 6-1.

This means that Cosmos is following closely on the heels of Mbekweni United with only a single loss after nine matches and no draw result.
