Municipality hosts Community Games

THE Drakenstein Municipality has formed a partnership with several organisations in organising sport programmes for local kids in the December holiday.
The municipality's hand is strengthened in this project with the help of the SA Police Service, Correctional Services, SANRA, Lovelife, Smart People, and various sport federations and community organisations.
Children will be able to compete in athletics (u.9, u.11, u.15, u.17), basketball (u.13, u.17), mini-soccer (u.9, u.11, u.15), mini-cricket (u.9, u.11, u.15), tag-rugby (u.9, u.11, u.15) and indigenous games (all age groups).
Events are planned for 6 December (Mbekweni Sports Grounds), 8 December (Saron Sports Grounds), 11 December (Dalweide Primary), 12 December (Paarlzicht Primary), 13 December (Weltevrede Sports Grounds), 14 December (Paulus Joubert Primary), 15 December (Boys’ High Sports Field and Paarl East Swimming Pool).
All events start at 08:30.
On Saturday 16 December the main event will take place at the Dal Josaphat Stadium. A march against drugs, alcohol, child abuse and other social problems starting at 08:00 at the Amstel Café in Klein Drakenstein Road will preclude the sports day.
