Pedigreed thief?

Pedigreed thief?

2005-03-09

A DOG owner was the prime suspect in a burglary at the SPCA clinic at Franschhoek.
Now, after the third burglary this year, SPCA chairman Polly Meyer suspects that the burglar is selling the dog food he steals.
“And this is the food we hand out free to people with animals,” Polly said.
“We don’t keep any money in the clinic, just a table, a few chairs and the food.”
The door to the Groendal clinic in La Provence Street has been broken from the hinges of the wendyhouse twice before.
During the first burglary, in January this year, a window was broken and burglar bars smashed.
Each time the thief made off with five bags of dog food.
“We believe the burglar is local, and probably a dog owner,” detective chief Insp Leon Boonzaaier said.
Anyone with information on the suspect, can contact the inspector at 876-8061.
