Paarl II beats Wellington

AFTER their first teams’ match ended in a draw in Wellington, the second teams of the Paarl and Wellington cricket clubs got stuck into it at the Parys grounds.
Wellington II set the home side a target of 227 to win after scoring 226/9.
F le Roux (61 4x6, 6x1), N Basson (28 4x2, 6x1) and C Williams (44 4x2, 6x1) made runs for the visitors.
C Plaatjies (2/41), Randall Groenewaldt (2/42) and Faghrie Jacobs (2/46) bowled well.
The home side reached the winning target in the 57th over.
Openers Lindsay van der Berg (66 4x11) and Elrick Jansen (52 4x6) laid the platform for the win.
Graham Adams (30 4x5), Carlo Crotz (34 not out 4x3) and Marco Walters (26 not out 4x2) made sure that the home side won by seven wickets.
Paarl IV (205/9) lost to Stellenbosch/Districts (207/4) at Idas Valley.
Grant Hendricks (30 4x3), Brent Hendricks (46 4x7) and Jacques Jacobs (40 4x2) played well.
This weekend Novel Paarl I (away) and II (home) play Paarl East Cricket Club. The fourth team travels to Stellenbosch to play Spes Bona.
