Join walks on Paarl Mountain

Paarl Mountain is a natural gem on our doorstep. It is extensively used by the community for recreationand residents of Paarl can become involved in various projects of the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve.
First on the list is the second Early Morning Mountain Walk on Saturday 21 May, between 07:00 and 10:00. Meet at the main picnic site near Mill Water Gardens in Jan Phillips Drive.
This is a guided moderate walk to enjoy the mountain. Bring snacks for breakfast afterwards. Children are welcome, but no dogs are allowed.
* The 4th Paarl Mountain Botanical Ramble takes place on Saturday 21 May between 16:00 and 18:30. Meet at herbarium at the main picnic site in Jan Phillips Drive.
It will be a slow walk with the specific aim of identifying plant species. Birders are also welcome. Participants must be able to manage short, steep downhill inclines.
* The reserve is in urgent need of eradication of invasive alien plant species which are a threat to the indigenous fynbos.
The first Paarl Mountain Community Hack will be held on Saturday 28 May from 08:00 to 10:00. Meet at the Victoria Dam T-junction on Jan Phillips Drive South.
Use some energy and vent your frustrations. Young alien plants will be pulled out by hand and using handsaws.
Please bring any of the following: gloves, handsaw, rope, panga, secateurs, garden fork or pick. Participants must be able to climb relatively steep slopes.
