Be smart - work together
2007-01-18
AN invitation to contribute ideas for the establishment of a Drakenstein Community Organisation Forum has been issued by Smart People.
According to Russel du Plessis, chairperson of the Smart People youth development project: “So many organisations do their bit of good in a quiet corner.
"Many more could be reached and much more achieved should we join under one umbrella.”
That is why the invitation has been extended to community organisations in the Drakenstein municipal area to establish a forum.
“This will enable us to network and bargain together for things in our common interest.
"Such a forum of non-governmental organisations would be politically non-aligned and would serve the community.”
Proposals are being awaited for the structuring as well as its roles, functions and values for a code of conduct.
Should there be support, Smart People will arrange the first public meeting and then stand back to allow a selected committee to manage the forum.
