Canoeist to make a splash at Youth Olimpics

CANOEIST Michael Watson (18) of Paarl will be representing South Africa in the canoe slalom event in the Youth Olympics in Sydney, Australia this week.
Watson is part of the SA Canoe/Kayak Slalom Team.
More than 1600 athletes will be representing 21 countries in 16 sport disciplines at the Australian Youth Olympics Festival which takes place from 17 to 21 January.
Watson earned his senior Protea colours at the Senior World Championships held in Prague last year when he became the first junior to represent South Africa in the slalom team event .
Bianca Bevitt from the Milnerton Canoe club is the only other Cape paddler to qualify for the South African team.
