Winners of the Creative Writing Festival

THE winners of the Drakenstein Creative Writing Festival were announced this week.
In the adult prose section, the winners are Mawande Given Gqotse, Mrs MA Johnson (Dornrosa Street) and Mrs MA Makara (Phokeng Street).
Mrs R Buckle (Reinders St) and B Beukes (Hyacinth St) won in the Adult Poetry Section.
There were no winning entries in the Senior Secondary sections, but in the Primary Poetry category Zintle Ratya (Imboniselo), Amy Young (Saron Primary) and Chedrico Mankopan (Nederburg) were the winners.
The top entries in the Primary Prose Section belong to Liné Malan (Girls' High), Landolf Theron (Hugenote) and Leresia Joseph (Paarlzicht).
The Municipality received more than 600 original stories and poems, as well as historic information and journalistic pieces that have been published before.
The Paarl Post will run some of the winning entries in the weeks to come, while Radio KC will have an interview with the organisers as well as readings of some of the entries on Thursday 19 May between 19:00 and 20:00.
