Top Tech award won by Paarlite

A TECHNICIAN at Thorp, Opel and Isuzu, Paarl, Julian Matheyse, is the runner-up in a national General Motors ‘Top Tech’ Award.
Julian is a true son of Paarl, having completed his schooling at Paulus Joubert Senior School and his apprenticeship in Paarl.
The ‘Top Tech’ Award is a national competition between all of GM’s technicians country wide.
The competition, open to all of the General Motors retailer technicians, begins with an internal evaluation which chooses the top 50 technicians in the country.
Thereafter there is a revaluation process to find the top 30 contenders. This is further refined to the top ten.
This group is invited to the company's head office in Port Elizabeth where the final examination is conducted.
Julian was awarded the Top Tech for the Western Cape and runner-up in the national competition.
The award was presented at a gala dinner at the Monte Casino Hotel in Johannesburg attended by the top management of the company.
“It is critically important for us to train our technical staff to the highest standards,” said Dirk Burger, Retailer Principal of Thorp Plumstead.
“Today’s modern cars are becoming more and more sophisticated and demand highly trained people to work on them. We are extremely proud of Julian and his achievement of reaching the peak in his profession. His knowledge and expertise will be passed on to our customers here in Paarl.”
Thorp Paarl is the official GM dealer in Paarl and markets and services Opel and Chevrolet passenger cars and LDV’s as well as Isuzu LDV’s and heavy trucks.
