Nightmare in Elm Street
2005-05-12
THE horror movie “Nightmare on Elm Street” depicts a demonic character who invades the sleep of others in the most evil and sadistic ways imaginable.
He wears them down and robs them of their peace of mind. He does so in many different guises.
In Paarl he does so in the guise of a motorbiker who rides all night at a phenomenal speed, droning and whining at an unbearable pitch, broken only by brakes screaming, wheels spinning and nerve wracking revving.
He also comes in the guise of road hogs, faulty exhausts and silencers, loud music blaring forth and speeding cars with total disregard for others, often with tragic consequences.
In Natal a R31 000 fine was recently laid on a speeding motor biker who was doing 275km/h in a 120km/h zone.
Instead of crying poverty, our town council should realise that they are sitting on a goldmine called the streets of Paarl, invaded at night by vampires who sleep all day and play all night. The stakes are high!
