2007-02-22
THE beauty of the Paarl winelands will form the picturesque backdrop to a scintillating combination of wonderful music, fine wine and good food, during a sunset picnic concert at Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate outside Paarl on Sunday at 16:30.
During the picnic, entertainment will be provided by the Stellenbosch University Symphonic Wind Band conducted by Pamela Kierman, and the Windworx Wind Ensemble from Cape Town, conducted by Sean Kierman, providing the entertainment.
They will perform a selection of popular hits and all-time favourites, including ‘You raise me up’, ‘Blouberg se Strand’, Toto’s ‘Africa’, a suite from Taliep Pietersen and David Kramer’s musical District Six, as well as musical highlights from the film scores of John Williams.
Wines from Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate will be on sale during the concert. Bring your own picnic or order a pre-packed picnic basket from Nelson’s Creek at R50 per basket, by contacting Belinda on 021-869-8453.
Following the concert, Nelson’s Creek will also be holding a special wine auction to raise funds for the Frank Pietersen Music Centre’s upcoming overseas tour to Germany from 5 to 15 July.
