Paarl matches washed out

ALL the matches of Novel Paarl Cricket Club’s four teams were called off due to rain on Saturday.
At the Parys field Maties I managed 126/5 when the rain started to bucket down.
Only Gerhard Strydom (33) and Riaan Venter (24) showed some resistance against tight bowling of Lyndon Fredericks (0/38 in 13 overs), Ultalyn Ernstzen (1/28 in 9 overs) and Rohan Goetham (1/8 in 3 overs) who kept the visitors' batsmen on their toes.
The umpires decided to call it a day after an hour and the rain still coming down.
This weekend Paarl I, II and III play at home against Hermanus, Stellenbosch/Districts and Easterns respectively. The fourth team has a bye.
The Novel Paarl Cricket Club is having a family day at the Parys Grounds on 24 March to end the season. Members will participate in a Six-a-Side competition.
A slippery slide and jumping castle will be available for the kids.
Everybody is welcome to join in the fun. Food and drinks will be available from the kiosk and licensed bar facilities.
