Bishop visit Paarl
2007-03-15
THE Right Reverend Bishop Samuel L Green Sr will conduct the sermon of the special divine service at St Joseph’s AME Church in Paarl, Sunday at 10:00.
There will also be a procession from the swimming pool in Paarl East to the church. This will start at 09:15.
Bishop Green has been appointed to serve the 15th Episcopal district of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. This includes countries like Angola and Namibia and in South Africa the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and the Kalahari.
This is a rare opportunity and privilege for the local church and the broader community to be blessed by the bishop.
Internationally the church celebrates its 220th birthday, nationally its 111th and locally its 74th birthday.
The theme of the local church, St Joseph’s, for 2007 is ‘Living in His Presence’.
“In our ministry we want to take this message to our community, communicating the message of hope,” says Rev Keith Links.
“The church is taking its place and claiming back the responsibility of its role in the community in partnership with the community.”
