Container brings help
2007-03-22
AFTER more than three months, a 40-foot container with children’s clothes for the Paarl Hospital and for the Athlone House Of Strength, as well as furniture and toys for the Holland Child Care Centre (Ahos), computers and gymnast equipment for the Noorder Paarl High School arrived in Paarl.
The container with over 180 boxes of donated goods from Holland and the UK has been standing at customs in Cape Town since December.
The whole project was organised by Ad en Marjo Rietveld in Holland, by David and Angela Hill in the UK and by John and Pat Martin in Paarl.
With the help of many international organisations like Kopf und Lubben and local sponsors like Decor Lighting all material and shipping was sponsored and finally released from customs last week.
More than 180 boxes with children’s clothes and toys, children’s furniture, gymnastic equipment, 20 computers, crockery, professional audio and video systems for the shelter and many other things came in addition to the two donation cheques of R100 000 each presented at the AHOS evening in November as part of the www.childrenofpaarl.com initiative.
