Wine Route clash
2007-03-22
AFTER ten years, the Nouveau Wine Festival will sadly not be resuscitated this year.
Eight wineries from Pearl’s Gate in Windmeul, Agter Paarl, were planning to revive this once highly popular event that was held annually at the top of Paarl Mountain this weekend.
This will regrettably not be happening this year, because the Wellington Wine Route have scheduled their annual wine festival for the same weekend.
The members of Pearl’s Gate are anxious to foster good working relationships with all other wine routes in their area, including Paarl Vintners and the Wellington Wine Route and have, in the circumstances, resolved to stand back and to give the Wellington Wine Route centre-stage for their event this year.
“We urge all wine lovers in Paarl and Wellington that were planning to attend our Nouveau Festival, to rather support the Wellington Wine Route Festival on 23 & 24 March, so that their event will be a huge success,” said Marcel de Reuck, the present Chairman of Pearl’s Gate.
“Pearl’s Gate are planning a number of exciting events this year,” said De Reuck “and we will advise the public of the dates in due course.”
