Orchestra and massed choir

THERE will be a performance by orchestra and massed choir at Paarl Boys High on Saturday at 19:30.
The choir of the Fezeka High School is from Guguletu, the New Orleans High School Choir together with the Choristers of Girls’ High School are from Paarl itself.
They will sing under the baton of Alexander Fokkens, and be accompanied by the Cape Philharmonic Youth Orchestra combined with pupils from the three Western Cape Education Department Music Centres.
Among the choral items are The Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore by Verdi, and Dry Your Tears Afrika from Amistad by Williams.
Symphony works include the first movement of Beethoven’s First Symphony, Passione Amarosa for two double bass and orchestra as well as short works from composers around the world.
The event is made possible by financial sponsorship from the Arts and Culture Trust. Proceeds will be used for music development programmes.
Bookings can be done through the Frank Pietersen Music Centre, 021- 872- 2123. Tickets are R30 for adults and R20 for children. Performance starts at 7:30pm.
