2007-03-29
ON Wednesday 18 April twenty highly talented jazz musicians from Rheinland-Pfaltz in Germany will be performing at the Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate outside Paarl.
The Phoenix Foundation Jazz Orchestra will be on a brief tour of South Africa and have selected only a few venues at which to deliver their performances. The performance at the Nelson Wine Estate is the only one that will take place in Paarl.
The orchestra is led by Frank Reichert, conductor of this highly acclaimed band that performs as the ‘Phoenix Foundation’ and is supported and sponsored by the country of Rheinland-Pfaltz Germany.
During the past few years the orchestra has toured through the USA, Korea and Brazil and performed with well-known musicians such as Peter Weniger, Ack van Rooyen, Terell Stafford, Greg Abate, Samunori - Korean Drums and Pe Werner.
The Jazz musicians of ‘Phoenix Foundation’ play musical highlights from Jazz, Rock and Pop music.
Arrangements from Count Basie to Gloria Gaynor, to the themes of James Bond series will be played.
Musical creativity expands the spectrum: compositions from the members will be arranged and presented by Phoenix Foundation.
The orchestra has selected Nelson Wine Estate as the venue for their sole Paarl performance in view of the well-attended sunset concert that was held on Nelson’s Creek last month.
Pre-booking is essential. Tickets (R80) include a light meal and wine tasting. Phone Tharine on 021-869-8453 for enquiries and reservations.
