Franschhoek Literary Festival

A NUMBER of well-known authors, including Christopher Hope, Justin Cartwright, Siri Hustvedt and Giles Foden, will be among the guest speakers at the Franschhoek Literary Festival from 11 to 13 May. Booking has opened at Franschhoek Info.
Among the highlights are talks by Christopher Hope (My Mother’s Lover), Justin Cartwright (Promise of Happiness), Ivan Vladislavic (Portrait with Keys), Marlene van Niekerk (Agaat), Chris van Wyk (Shirley, Goodness and Mercy), Andrew Brown (Coldsleep Lullaby), Siri Hustvedt (What I Loved, The Enchantment of Lily Dahl and The Blindfold), John van der Ruit (Spud), Max du Preez (Pale Native), Rian Malan (My Traitor’s Heart), Fred Khumalo (Bitches’ Brew), Giles Foden (The Last King of Scotland) and Rustum Kozain of Paarl (This Carting Life).
Simultaneously there will be the première of Mike van Graan’s one-person satire “Bafana Republic” and a number of musical concerts presented as part of the Franschhoek Music Festival.
